Our nation and state have reached a critical crossroads. Democrats in Harrisburg and Washington, DC seem intent on increasing government spending, while local residents and future generations are left picking up the tab.

In Harrisburg, Democrat leadership is proposing to pay for this increased spending through a range of tax increases, such as a proposal to extend the sales tax to more than 70 additional items not currently taxed. That is money that will come out of the pockets of local residents to fund increased spending at a time when families throughout Delaware County are already being forced to stretch their hard-earned income to do more with less.

In Washington, the Democrat-controlled House and Senate are pushing the cost of their free-spending ways off on future generations, setting the stage for inflation and tax increases. By 2020, the interest payments alone on the national debt are expected to reach $840 billion. That payment will exceed what the federal government is expected to spend that year on all discretionary domestic programs not related to security.

Locally, we have a number of excellent Republican candidates who are committed to address these and other problems facing our nation and state in Washington and Harrisburg. These candidates are committed to fiscal responsibility, as well as identifying new opportunities to create jobs and provide a boost to our local economy.
